PMNM: Sports, Berto vs Porter, and More

April 21, 2017

A quick turnaround for this episode of Pay Me No Mind. More was planned this week until the decision was made that PMNM is headed to BKLN Saturday for #BertoPorter!

There's a feud growing in Indianapolis boxing circles, so I thought I'd get the talented light heavyweights together, in a way, to speak on it.

Indiana light heavyweight state champion Curtis "The Incredible" Hill, Jr. (10-0, 5 KOs) called in to the show (starting @ 49:10) to recap his stunning RD1 destruction of Cory Dulaney on the undercard of About Billions Promotions' Broner-Granados card February 18 at Xavier Univ's Cintas Center. Hill, joined by his trainer Cedric Johnson (CBA Promotions), also hinted at what's next for him inside the ring, and then addressed a recent blog article that proposed a Hoosier showdown with Indy's other "best" light heavyweight - Anthony Sims, Jr (14-0, 13 KOs).

Well, Hill and Sims being mentioned as Indy's "best" got Malcolm "KO King" Jones (7-0, 6 KOs) charged up on social media over the past weekend. Jones returned to PMNM (starting @ 1:12:55) to give out some serious reminders, recap his April 8th RD2 KO, share details on sparring with top 10 light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev, and break down the upcoming Ward-Kovalev rematch.

Beef aside, the two unbeaten fighters were invited on the podcast to shine some light on them in hopes that some TV opportunities arise for both sluggers in the near future. According to BoxRec Hill and Jones are the No. 36- and No. 51-ranked American light heavyweights, respectively.

Andre Berto-Shawn Porter talk... Eric Duran of 60 Minutes Boxing returned (@ 1:28:01) to quickly breakdown the Berto-Porter eliminator, as well as Jermell Charlo's title defense against Charles Hatley.

This episode's intro dealt with Aaron Hernandez's suicide, Serena Williams winning Slams while pregnant, reviews of Kendrick Lamar's DAMN., the NBA 'offs surprises, and Eric Fetterman (@broknowsmovies) checked in (@ 36:48) to share some thoughts on The Fate of The Furious...

Pay Me No Mind: DAMN. Sports

April 13, 2017

Showed some ring rust on this episode... This episode of Pay Me No Mind was put together with the arrival of Kendrick Lamar's latest album, DAMN., in mind. Unfortunately, my DAMN. guest had to postpone.

No worries family! After some quick thoughts on Tony Romo's upcoming move to CBS' broadcast booth, and a brief review of the season finale of VH1's The Breaks the guests come.

Boxing/FightHype writer Caryn Tate (@carynatate) joined the show, for the first time, at 32:45 for the first time to talk Ward-Kovalev 2, and the need for women's boxing to quickly move to full 3-minute rounds.

Mayweather Promotions super lightweight prospect Richardson Hitchins (@ 46:30) discussed his experience as a member of the 2016 Olympic Haitian boxing team. He also talked about his gratitude for his first two fights happening at Barclays Center in his hometown Brooklyn, New York. Hitchins is back in the ring on the undercard of Porter-Berto on April 22nd.

Ringside Reporter host Eric Lorta (@Ringside73) called in (@ 1:04:07) to help sort through the fallout of the Adrien Broner-Gervonta Davis rift which briefly looked like another full-blown Mayweather Promotions-About Billions rift. Lorta weighs in on whether AB's social media activity is good or bad for business - the live gate. We get off the drama, and get in some thoughts on Shawn Porter versus Andre Berto, but hey... it's only so much to be said about that fight.

Accokeek, MD super welterweight prospect Justin "Slick" Hurd (@slick_justinhurd on IG) made his first visit to PMNM (@ 1:24:55) to speak on his fight tomorrow night on ShoBox's MGM National Harbor undercard. Slick also shares some interesting sacrifices the Hurd family made to allow him and his older brother, IBF world super welterweight champion Jarrett "Swift" Hurd, to chase big time boxing dreams.

Lightweight Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring (@JamelHerring) trains alongside several About Billions fighters daily. Check him out at the 1:38:08-mark to see what the word on AB and Tank is at the gym! Herring also speaks on Jamontay Clark's recent TKO win on PBC Boxing, the rapid rise of Vasyl Lomachenko, and hints at the timing for his next bout.

Press Coverage 4/10: 2017 NFL Mock Draft (First Round)

April 10, 2017

Today we have a special edition of the Press Coverage podcast. Today we have five Mock Draft experts coming on the show and we are going to "live" draft the first round of this years NFL Draft.

Obviously, this is a podcast, so what do I mean by "live"? Simply that the picks that will be made on this podcast weren't predetermined. Two weeks ago I assigned each of our five guests 5-to-6 teams each. They then had to do research on what each of those teams needs and they created a mini-version of a Big Board for each team.

None of the five experts know what the other experts will pick, just like a real NFL Draft. We will go through all 32 first round picks, and each expert will give a brief synopsis of why they took each player.

The five guests I have coming on are as follows:

  1. Matt Sandell of
  2. Tim Strobel of The DFS Roundtable
  3. Jason Ferguson of the radio show Tha Study Hall with Frank and Jason live every Thursday at or on demand right here at
  4. Also coming to us from The DFS Roundtable is Jason Aguirre, who has been on the show before with his twin brother Gerson.
  5. And, rounding out the panel, we have another returning guest and GoingFor2's own, Eric Frosbutter. Eric also contributes to the Miami Dolphins Fansided blog

I hope you enjoy the show, and be sure to visit for all four of our shows; ClashoftheNerds "Let's Podcast" and "Armbar" as well as "The Pay Me No Mind Show" with host Wood.

Press Coverage 4/5: NBA Awards, March Madness, & Those Damn Patriots

April 5, 2017

Today on the show we have first time guest Matthew Garrett of Mattew has been writing for GoingFor2 for awhile and for some reason I've never had him on the podcast before. After today's great show, I'm going to have to get him back on again!

First, we cover the NBA year-end awards, and surprise surprise, another guest disagrees with me on the MVP race.

We talk a little about the NCAA tournament this year and whether or not it lived up to its billing, and we touch on what the UCONN women's team means to the sport of women's basketball.

We finish up on the NFL. Who are the offseason winners and losers so far? I'll give you a hint on one of the winners, they just won the Super Bowl! Then I put Matthew in the role an NFL GM and give him some tough choices to make.

All this and more on the latest Press Coverage Podcast. Find us at our new home
